Award-winning violinist, Peter Sheppard Skærved, presents his collection of works ‘Preludes & Vollenteries’ under the majestic acoustic of St. Mary Aldermary Church.
‘Preludes & Vollenteries’ takes its name from a collection of works for solo violin published in London in 1700. The concert series explores the music and instruments of the decades when Wren, Hooke & Hawksmoor’s churches rose the devastation of the Great Fire. This concert will include a first chance to hear the earliest dated British viola, made just over London Bridge in 1641, paired with an anonymous sonata from 1690, based on the hymn ‘How Brightly Shines the Morning Star’
The concert will take place at 6 pm, the 10th of January.
Admission: £12 (£5 Concessions) on the door or from Peter Sheppard Skærved´s Website
