Host Café behind the scenes: Dusty Knuckles Bakery.

As you might already know, at Host we are proud to collaborate with social enterprises, of which the objective is to give back to their communities. Dusty Knuckle has been part of the big Host Café family for about 2 years and we love collaborating with them, here is why.

Max Tobias, his friend Rebecca and Daisy Terry, founded Dusty Knuckles in 2014. The bakery was situated inside an empty shipping container, but despite the precarious location they were determined to create something extraordinary.

Dusty Knuckle’s mission is to create a space where young people can get trained and employed with fair salaries. The bakery and its founders are focusing their action towards youth that come from a difficult background, and they do so in order to enhance their confidence and give them the opportunity to change their economic and social circumstances.

“At the Dusty Knuckle Bakery, we believe that all young people, regardless of background, should feel confident and supported in building themselves a legitimate and financially independent future. Only with genuine employment opportunities can we alter the mindset of those young people who may otherwise feel they have nothing to lose by pursuing criminality.”

You can find Dusty Knuckle products at Host Café. We serve their delicious apple turnover and every day we transform their focaccia into sandwiches to give you divine lunch options.

To support Dusty Knuckles and their work, head to Host Café and ask our staff for their products.
